The Banteay Ampil Band consisted of musicians and singers who united during their time in the Ampil refugee camp on the border with Thailand. They had hidden their talents during the brutal Khmer Rouge era and i was there, led by composer Oum Dara, who had worked with legends like Sinn Sisamouth and Ros Srey Sothea, that the band crafted these songs of resistance. They went on to Singapore to record this record, originally releases in 1983.
